Landgate Projects

2002 - Survey along the southern section of the CSR. A report entitled "Report on the facilities and condition ofthe Canning Stock Route from Wiluna to Well 33" was produced. It provides photographs and details on the wells within that sector with a table of water quality and depth.

2007 - Landgate conducted both topographic and geodetic surveys along the northern section of the CSR. Both the track centerline and all bench marks were accurately located and have been loaded to Landgate databases. The inventory of the wells started in 2002 was completed.

2008 - Landgate became involved as a partner in a number of projects along the CSR. Primarily, Landgate has the reponsibility for survey and mapping tasks, map publishing advice, Geographic Information System build, gathering Indigenous names for topographic features and Native Title mapping.

  1. Australian Research Council (ARC) grant to the Australian National University to lcoate and record Aboriginal rock art and dreaming (Jukurrpa) sites.   2. Ngurra Kuju Walyja (One Country One People) - the FORM Canning Stock Route project is a collaborative project with contempory Traditional Owners artists telling their stories through their art, culture and oral histories. It fosters the training of art curators, multi-media, writers and language workers in the nine Aboriginal communities adjacent to the CSR. www.form.net.au/indigenous-development/canning-stock-route-project
  3. Curtin University final year students conducted a biennial heritage expedition along the southern sector of the CSR from Georgia Bore to Wiluna. Their party consisted of students, mentors and Aboriginal monitors and had a Landgate contract to conduct precise surveys of historical geodetic and cadastral survey marks. 2009 and 2010 - Landgate will continue to support the ARC and FORM projects and will be developing a suite of innovative paper and digital map products to complement the various publications that are currently in preparation.
